What are tension headaches?

Tension headaches are a common type of headache characterized by a dull, aching pain and a sensation of tightness or pressure around the head. They typically cause moderate pain and generally affect both sides of the head. Tension headaches may last from a few hours to several days.

Stress, anxiety, poor posture, muscle tension and fatigue are some of the common triggers for tension headaches. Other symptoms may include muscle tenderness, sensitivity to light or noise and difficulty sleeping.

Relief of symptoms of tension headaches

They can usually be managed with over-the-counter medication and by practicing relaxation techniques, managing stress, getting enough sleep, massage and acupressure devices such as Tee-MDi and Tee-MD Rover.
